imageISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Engr Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman Tuesday directed the NAVTTC to establish Federal Board of Technical Education and Vocational Training (FBTEVT) as a role model for the technical schools of the entire country.

Chairing a meeting of Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVT) here, he stressed the NAVTTC for early establishment of federal technical board in the Islamabad Capital Territory.

Members of the National Vocational and Technical Training Centre (NAVTTC) told the meeting that the jurisdiction of this board would be the Federal Areas, Federal Organization and federal government.

The meeting was briefed that secretary level official would be its Chairman and it will work under the supervision of NAVTTC.

Baligh ur Rahman also expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress work on the establishment of technical board and directed to finalize the location of building and other necessary work within a week.

He said that National Vocational and Technical Training Centre (NAVTTC) will play pivotal role in the establishment of Skills University in the capital.

He asked the members of the NAVTTC to submit a list of professionals of curriculum for the up-gradation of curriculum of technical institutions.

The members informed the minister that NAVTTC has 1,800 professionals in technical education.

The minister expressed dissatisfaction over the low performance of NAVTTC and said it was negligence of the institution for not implementing on technology contract with Russia.

Baligh ur Rahman said that NAVTTC was an apex body which formulated policies and the provision of training to students was the responsibility of the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVT).

He urged the NAVTTC to formulate a policy soon and send it to education ministry for recommendation.

The minister appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab for introducing new technical education programs.

The minister appreciated the NAVTTC initiative of skills development competition and said it should be continued.

He stressed the need of a program to address the issue of out of schools children from class one to ten by equipping them with technical skills.

Director General NAVTTC Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema while speaking on the occasion said that the role of media was important to achieve the goals adding that without it the motivation of general public towards technical education was impossible.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary Federal Education, Additional secretary Federal Education, Chairman NAVTTC and other officials of the Ministry.
