imageWARSAW: Poland's registered unemployment rate rose to 10.3 percent in January from 9.8 percent in December last year, an estimate from the labour ministry showed on Monday.

The ministry said in a statement the January rate was 1.6 percentage points lower than a year ago, while the number of job offers sent to labour offices rose by 18 percent year-on-year in January.

"We expect that the unemployment rate will not rise in February (compared to January)," Deputy Labour Minister Stanislaw Szwed told Reuters.

He said that the jobless rate should gradually fall after February, adding the rate will likely stand at 9.5 percent at the end of the year.
