KARACHI: Chairman, Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has left for China with a PPP delegation to participate in the Asian Political Parties Special Conference on the Silk Road.
The moot to open on Wednesday at Beijing and conclude on Friday is being hosted by the Communist Party of China (CPC), said party spokesman on Tuesday.
Other members of PPP delegation comprise former Ambassador to United States Senator Sherry Rehman, former Deputy Speaker of National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi and Political Secretary Jameel Soomro.
The conference with the theme "New Vision of the Silk Road, Actions for Common Development," will deliberate on topics as Political Leadership: New Consensus for Political Parties; People-to-People Bonds: New Dialogue between Civilizations; Economic Integration: New Impetus for Development.
Deliberations will be mainly focused on regional economic cooperation and this is particular context of the fact that in ancient times, the overland and maritime Silk Roads were symbols of economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between different countries and regions.
The profound impact of Silk Road is registered not to have withered with age.
Against this backdrop and upon the request of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), the CPC is holding this Special Conference, aimed at leveraging the leading role of political parties in political, economic and social lives of their countries.
The moot will highlight the Silk Road Spirit of peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning and shared benefit.
It will be also be focused on further accelerating economic integration, cultural exchanges and friendship-building among countries along the Overland and Maritime Silk Roads, enhancing the well-being of peoples along the routes and across the world, and thus promoting common development of the region and the world.
