Pakistan has won the 1st ODI of the series comprehensively by 6 wicket, now Pakistan team is eyeing a series win with the second ODI against Sri Lanka on Wednesday. Pakistan's ace fast bowler Wahab Riaz wants to rejoin the team as soon as possible in ODI series.
According to local media reports, Wahab said, “I want to join the team as soon as I can because Pakistan team is in a difficult situation with the Champions Trophy qualification at stake. It’s unfortunate that I’m out injured at such a crucial juncture but I’m keeping myself fit by training regularly. If the selectors and the medical panel give me clearance to play, I would like to join the team during the series”.
Chief selector Haroon Rasheed had also expressed hope that Wahab recovers quickly but said that any decision to send him to Sri Lanka will depend on his medical scans.
He was ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lanka after fracturing his left-hand on the first day. Wahab was hit on the left hand by a delivery from fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera while batting during the first day’s play at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo.
It's Pakistan and Sri Lanka's longest series during summer 2015 and both teams is battling it out during the hot weather of June-July. The second ODI of five-match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take place on July 15, 2015.
