imageHYDERABAD: Chief of Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), Ahmed Chinoy has said that the cases of kidnapping for ransom had registered a decline in the Karachi because of the coordinated working of police and rangers during the ongoing operation.

He said this while speaking to media Saturday after performing the inauguration of Neighbourhood care project of CPLC to facilitate Mohallah Committee for addressing the issues of street crime.

"We receive thousands of applications of various issues and efforts are being made to address them in the same way," he said.

Chinoy said that CPLC was working in Karachi and Hyderabad and its centres would be set up in other district similarly.

We are making it possible to eradicate the crimes from the province where the citizen can live peacefully, he added.

Neighbourhood care project of CPLC was launched on the request of Mohallah Committee to keep a close eye on the street crime and it could be eradicated easily.

Later, the CPLC chief visited the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) and on the occasion, Chief CLPC said that any person except political worker could be member of CPLC and could work voluntarily.

Moreover, CPLC has computerised the data of crimes since 1987 and in addition to this, there is 3.5 million vehicle data available with CPLC, he said.

He said that CPLC complaints centres would be set up HCCI.

The Neighbourhood care was set up after 10-member Mohallah Committee signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CPLC where committee would provide two-room office to CPLC and CPLC would provide other facilitation equipment such as the computer and other facilitating material, Rizwan Khan a member of Neighbourhood Care CPLC said.

Besides, six police constable have been deputed here, he said adding the expenses of the office would be generated through donation of residents in Mohallah, he said.

President HCCI, Goharullah also spoke on the occasion.
