imageISLAMABAD: Although Younis Khan's hundred in the third ODI against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi went in vain, he did create a record on the way, becoming the oldest Pakistani batsman to score a one-day hundred.

Younis Khan was 37 years and 18 days old when on Wednesday he scored 103 in the fourth ODI against New Zealand.

The previous Pakistani oldest was Zaheer Abbas as he had scored a century at the age of 35 years and 331 days.

It is also interesting to note that both Khan and Abbas scored these centuries against the same opposition and their score also remained the same. The later had hit an unbeaten 103 against New Zealand in Nottingham on June 20,1983.

Overall Younis Khan became the 16th oldest player to achieve the feat. United Arab Emirates' Khurram Khan holds the record for being the oldest batsman to score a hundred in one-day cricket. The 43-year old scored an unbeaten 132 against Afghanistan in Dubai on November 30, this year. Before him Jayasuriya was the oldest player to achieve this milestone. He was 39 years and 212 days old when he made 107 against India at Dambulla on January 28, 2009. India, however, ended up winning that match by six wickets.

Some other great batsmen who achieved this landmark when they were above 37 include England's Geoffrey Boycott, India's Sachin Tendulkar, Bermuda's David Hemp, India's Sunil Gavaskar, West Indies' Desmond Haynes and Gordon Greenidge, India's Mohinder Amarnath, Sri Lanka Mahela Jayawardene and West Indies' Steve Tikolo, England's AJ Stewart, Sri Lanka's KC Sangakkara and New Zealand's BE Congdon.
