imageKARACHI: Younis Khan should be automatic selection after his historic achievement against Australia in Dubai, former Pakistan Captain Wasim Bari said on Monday.

"After such an excellence batting show and twin hundred Younis Khan has proved his class, fitness and standing," he told APP in an interview.

"Personally I was not happy with his dropping from the Pakistan one-dayer because team badly needed batsman like him who got the ability to steadied the innings and attack when needed," he said.

"Look the way he batted contrastingly in both innings. He steadied the innings after Pakistan lost two wickets in the first innings," he maintained.

He said Younis' second innings unbeaten 103 was classy knock which was enterprising and attacking.

"Pakistan badly needed fighter batsman like for the World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand," the former chief selector said.

"Younis' got the ability to perform under pressure. His fighting qualities bring best out of him," former gloveman said.

He said players like Younis Khan are motivating factor in Pakistan batting which lift the team.

He said Pakistan team got the golden opportunity to wrap up[ the series in Abu Dhabi.

However, he warned Pakistan team to beware of Australia comeback and should be ready for the backlash.

"Australians doesn't like to be beaten. They will be coming hard on Pakistan in the second Test," Bari commented.

"If our team maintained their momentum it can make the things hard for Aussies," he added.

He complimented Pakistan spin duo of Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah, who bowled Pakistan to big win.

"Babar and Yasir both used the turning track admirably well to trouble the Australian batting and bring honor and glory to the country," he said.

He said Australians and facing batting problems and only David Warner and Steve Smith have fared well against Pakistan spinners.

"Despite being a rookie Yasir Shah has shown maturity with his guile and Zulfiqar Babar also put up a smart bowling show," he said.
