Sony pictures has unveiled the test look of classic ‘Popeye the Sailor’ for their upcoming movie directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.
Director Genndy Tartakovsky reveals what he calls an ‘animation test’ for the Popeye film. While the movie does not yet have a green light from Sony, it is in active development. He said, “It’s not a clip, it’s not a trailer, it’s nothing from the actual movie, it’s just something that kind of represents what we wanted to do,” media reported.
According to media reports, a short ‘animation test’ for its upcoming ‘Popeye’ shows off new designs for the squinty sailor, his true love Olive Oyl, their burly nemesis Bluto and the magical animal Eugene the Jeep. The video is lively and beautifully colored, the footage is nonetheless missing three accessories that have traditionally defined Popeye; his corncob pipe, anchor tattoos, and ever-handy can of spinach.
The ‘Popeye the Sailer’ movie is expected to hit theatres in 2016.
