imageKARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will revive its initiative to hold series of workshops and seminars for media persons from July 2014 as a part of its annual business plan to educate and keep them updated on core financial and banking issues.

In an interactive session with print and electronic media representatives here at SBP Head Office on Wednesday, SBP's Chief Spokesman Hamza Malik, SBP's Media Coordinator Khubaib Usmani said that State Bank's management has realized to maintain closer and regular interaction with the media to ensure flow of accurate information from SBP within shortest possible time.

For this purpose, they would also work on establishing strong coordination among different departments of State Bank for quick and right response to media queries.

Hamza Malik said that under new initiatives State Bank's media team along with other concerned officials of the central bank, if needed, would have bi-monthly interactive session with print and electronic media immediately after the announcement of monetary policy statement to answer queries, and discus/elaborate certain technical points for better understanding of the media about this very important financial document and other core financial and banking developments.

"We have to build trust and understanding with each other," he said.

Malik said that State Bank would also revamp its web-pages in english and urdu languages from July 2014 to build interaction with the world. In the second phase, the facility may be provided in the regional languages.

He also informed media that Central Bank's media department is also working on creating Urdu media dictionary to facilitate the media using Urdu version of the information provided by SBP.
