imageISLAMABAD: The third Pak-China Business Forum commenced here on Friday aiming at promoting University-Industry collaboration in business and economic sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) is organizing this four-day event in which 130 Chinese, about 100 Pakistani companies are displaying their equipments and appliances.

This year more then 100,000 visitors including students, academia, entrepreneurs and representatives of different companies and enterprises are expected to attend the forum.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Zahid Hamid inaugurated the forum and exhibition where different products were displayed to enhance bilateral trade and investment opportunities as well as sharing the technological advancement in different fields of science and technology.

Speaking on the occasion, Foreign Secretary, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry commended the efforts of CIIT for organizing events for bringing closer the business communities and academia of both countries.

He said that about 210 stalls in the exhibition were reflecting the business friendly polices of the government and diplomatic and strategic relations between Pakistan and China.

Foreign Secretary reiterated the government's resolve for maintaining friendly and peaceful relation with all neighbouring countries particularly enhanced bilateral trade and investment cooperation with China for mutual progress and development.

The Secretary said that Pak-China Economic Corridor project will open an new era for development and prosperity for the region, adding that it offers enormous trade and investment opportunities and will turn the region into business hub.

Speaking to the forum Vice President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Imtiaz Ahmad said that it was high time to recognize the academia as engine of growth.

He said that business communities of the two countries were determined to further promote bilateral trade in different sectors of the economy for the benefit of the people of both countries.

He said that the event will open new avenues of bilateral trade between Pakistan and China particularly in renewable energy sector.
