ISLAMABAD: Former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari on Friday challenged Supreme Court’s decision of voiding his appointment.
On Tuesday, the apex court declared null and void the appointment of NAB chief who was appointed in October 2012.
A five-member bench, headed by Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani, had delivered its short verdict, saying that legal requirements for the consultations were not met in this regard.
The court ordered the federal government to appoint a new chairman NAB and follow the legal procedure.
The government had claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari made this appointment following consultations between then Leader of the House and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
However, PML-N’s opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan challenged the high-level appointment in the apex court soon after the appointment.
Today, the NAB chief’s counsel Latif Khosa filed a review petition in SC, stating that Supreme Court’s opinion, that proper consultation was not made in the appointment, was not right.
Bukhari pleaded to the court to suspend the five-member bench’s decision.
