habib-jalib_400ISLAMABAD: Renowned Urdu revolutionary poet and writer Habib Jalib was a dedicated poet of the east and ruled over the hearts of the people and will be remembered forever.

This was stated by his younger brother Saeed Parvaiz in a talk with PTV on the occasion of 40th death anniversary of Urdu poet Habib Jalib Tuesday.

He was paid rich tributes by all national and private media channels.

"God created Habib Jalib as a very special person to serve the nation despite that he was offered a lot of attractions to leave the revolutionary path he opted for by the then high authorities but he refused to accept them."

He recited some lines of poetry as:

Phool Kahin Murjate Han

Jalib Tum Yad Ate Ho

Maktal Jub Koi Sajata Ha

Jalib Tum Yad Ate Ho

Habib Jalib was born as Habib Ahmad on March 24 1928 in a village near Hoshiarpur, British India. He migrated to Pakistan after the partition of India and worked as a proof reader for Daily Imroze of Karachi.

He was a progressive writer and soon started to grab the audience with his enthusiastic recitation of poetry. He wrote in plain language, adopted a simple style and addressed common people and issues.

But the conviction behind his words, the music of his voice and his emotional energy coupled with the sensitivity of the socio-political context is what stirred the audience.

Habib Jalib died on March 12, 1993.
