Efforts underway to overcome power crisis: Chairman WAPDA
ISLAMABAD: Chairman WAPDA Syed Raghib Abbas Shah said that strenuous efforts were afoot to overcome the power crisis in the country.
Talking to a private news channel, he said completion of hydro projects executed in parts of the country would help generate 20000-megawatt electricity till 2020.
He said work on the mega power and water projects in Balochistan including Nolang dam, Vandar project and Kachi Canal are underway.
He said the total cost of Kachi Canal is fifty eight billion Rupees while thirty two billion Rupees have been spent so far.
Chairman WAPDA noted that Kachi Canal project once completed would give revenue of five billion rupees annually to Balochistan.
He said construction work on the portion of right bank out fall drainage that caused floods in Naseerabad and Jaffarabad districts is also in progress.
