Demand to waive proposed levy on cash withdrawals

Immediate withdrawal of the proposed condition of 0.1 percent withholding tax on withdrawals from banks on amount of over Rs 25,000 has been demanded by the All Pakistan Marble Industries Association (Apmia). The Association, in a statement issued here on Friday, said it was necessary in view of the fact that majority of the Apmia members, connected to the marble industry and the trade, were illiterate and would face immense problems because most of the dealings were on cash basis.
