imageSmartphones are not just a must have necessity in today’s day and age, they could leak out a lot of information about its user, says a recent study.

For example if you’re an Android user, you tend to be more modest and truthful in comparison to iPhone users. The study by researchers from the University of Lincoln UK also found out that women are twice to purchase an iPhone than an Android smartphone.

"This study provides new insights into personality differences between different types of smartphone users," said Heather Shaw, from the University of Lincoln. "Smartphone choice is the most basic level of smartphone personalisation, and even this can tell us a lot about the user," she added.

Researchers carried out two studies of personality differences between users of iPhone and Android smartphone, reported NDTV. In the first study, the researchers asked 240 participants to complete a questionnaire about characteristics they associate with users of each smartphone brand.

Whereas, in the second study the researchers tested the filled questionnaire personalities against the actual personality traits of 530 Android and iPhone smartphone users.

The results from the first study revealed that Android users were perceived to have a higher level of honesty and humility, they are more agreeable and open but are seen as less extroverted than the iPhone counterparts.

The second study however revealed that in reality most of the personality stereotypes did not occur, as only honesty and humility was found in greater amounts among the Android users.

"It is becoming more and more apparent that smartphones are becoming a mini digital version of the user,” said Mr Shaw.

It was also found that women were twice more likely to own an iPhone than an Android Phone, and unsurprisingly iPhone users were of the view that having a high status phone is important than the Android users.
