Samsung the Korean smartphone giant, was finally able to beat arch rivals Apple in USA, as Galaxy S7 and S7 edge accounted for higher sales than the iPhone 6s.
According to a report by Kantar Worldpanel, Samsung’s golden children accounted for 16 percent of the purchase made by US customers while only 14.6 percent opted for an iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus.
However, one must take into account that Apple’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were released last year, in September. Whereas Samsung’s newest flagship smartphones were launched in March this year with the attention grabbing Virtual Reality offers to attract more customers.
According to Forbes, Kantar’s report revealed that in the three month period ending in May 2016, the whole Samsung family of devices was able to capture 37pc of the US market, as compared to Apple's 29pc, in the aforementioned period.
However, there is good news for Apple too; the report showed that the Cupertio based tech commands 88pc customer loyalty, which remains a key factor for Apple in maintaining its revenue and profit. But it also shows what a hit the Galaxy S7 has been for Samsung, and it will be hoping that its next release the Galaxy Note 7 does the same as its siblings.
