Pakistan T20 skipper Shahid Afridi in a recent press conference said that he wants to prove himself as a captain in an upcoming series against Zimbabwe. He also said Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad who has been criticized for the poor performance during the World Cup will also have to prove their worth.
Afridi said, “Ahmed and Umar are Pakistan’s best talents and have been the serving the team for a long time. They now have the opportunity and would have to prove themselves to keep their places in the side. But it is not only them. Even I have to prove myself as a captain. There are a lot of players sitting outside and if others don’t perform, then we would give them a chance,” local media reported.
However, Afridi is also confident to win the series on the home ground. He said, “The selection committee has selected the best 15-men to represent Pakistan. They have done their work and now it’s time for the players to show their efforts. And if everyone puts in their 100% effort, good results can be expected”.
Pakistan will play the first T20 match against Zimbabwe on Friday at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
