imagePESHAWAR: The Provincial Election Commission has made all the necessary arrangements for the Senate election to facilitate the 124 legislatures of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly to exercise their right of votes for the election of 12 senators from the province on Thursday for which 25 aspirants put up by different political parties and some independents.

Provincial Election Commissioner Musarrat Khan would preside over the electoral process as Returning Officer for conduct of the election to be held at KP assembly hall which has been declared as the polling station for the purpose.

The polling would continue from 9am to 4 pm without any break through secret balloting. The polling officers for the election are Talib Hussain, Khushal Zada, Riaz Khattak, Syed Zahoor Shah and Sohail Ahmed. The ECP staff visited the assembly hall and reviewed arrangements for the senate polls.

The election materials have already been received by the Election Commission, the Spokesman added.

The election would be held for seven general seats, two each reserved seats for women and technocrat and one minority. As per standard rules framed by the election commission, the voters would not be allowed to take camera and mobile sets while casting votes.

For General seats, Haji Muhammad Adeel (ANP), Khanzada Khan (PPP), Sirajul Haq (JI), Syed Shibli Faraz (PTI), Attaur Rehman (JUI-F), Ammar Ahmed Khan (Indpt), Laiqat Khan Tarkai (PTI), Lt Gen Retd Syed Salahuddin Tirmazi (PML-N), Mohsin Aziz (PTI), Manzoor Khan, Noor Alam Khan (PPP) and Waqar Ahmed Khan (Indpt) are left in the field. On Women reserved seats, Samina Abid, Sitara Ayaz, Shafia Amjad, Shahee and Fauzia Fakhruzman Khan would try their luck.

On technocrat seats, Afrasiab Khan Khattak (ANP), Abdul Malik, Javed Abbasi (PMLN), Yaqoob Sheikh and Numan Wazir (PTI) are aspirants. For minority seat, James Iqbal, John Kenneth Walliams and Amar Jeet (ANP) would try their lucks in the Senate Elections 2015.
