imageElizabeth Norment, the American actress best known for her role on the Netflix political series ‘House of Cards’, has died at the age of 61.

According to media reports her sister Kate confirmed that, “Norment, who appeared as Nancy Kaufberger on the Netflix series, died Oct. 13 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York”. The actress obituary in The Washington Post said she passed away from cancer.

Norment appeared in the first two seasons of ‘Houses of Cards’ as Nancy Kaufberger, Frank Underwood's executive secretary. Reportedly, the show’s writer Beau Willemon said in a statement, “Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth’s passing. She was a talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend to us all”.

According to foreign media reports, her death has saddened the ‘House of Cards’ production company, MRC, who told the Reporter, “Elizabeth Norment was a talented actress with a beautiful spirit who touched the entire ‘House of Cards’ family”. Her co-star Kevin Spacey was among the first to honour the actress. “RIP Elizabeth Norment. We all loved her and she leaves a void in all of us here at ‘House of Cards’ ” he tweeted.

Norment had small roles in the films The Woman in Red (1984), Runaway (1984) and Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997) she also played Eunice Kennedy in the 1985 CBS miniseries ‘Robert Kennedy and His Times’.
