imageKARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, showing discontent over delay in execution of village gasification plan, has directed to complete all 1108 schemes by the end of this financial year as Rs. 6.5 billion have already been provided for the purpose to Sui-Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in advance.

He was presiding over a meeting regarding village gasification on Monday that was attended by advisor to CM for finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to CM Alamddin Bullo, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Secretary Energy Agha Wasif Abbas, Senior General Manager SSGC Dr. Ilyas and others.

The CM Sindh said that as many as 1108 schemes to provide natural gas to village were assigned to SSGC in 2011 with advance payment of Rs. 6.5 billion but by two years SSGC completed only 648 and remaining 460 schemes are still pending with Rs. 2.5 billion balance.

Having funds and approved schemes available, it was injustice to the people and government of Sindh to keep schemes pending he said and further asked to keep the balance amount of Sindh Government in Sindh Bank as decided earlier.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that in previous meeting it was decided that the balance amount of Sindh government, Rs. 2.5 billion, would be transferred and transacted through Sindh Bank but the management of SSGC did not responded yet.

He said that delay in execution, simultaneously keeping billion of rupees in hand, was causing financial losses to Sindh government and difficulties to common men. He asked the management of SSGC to transfer the resources from other side and complete these schemes by the end of this financial year.

Senior General Manager Dr. Ilyas briefing the meeting said that from 2008 till date they had received 1502 schemes of village gasification out of which 648 have been completed so far. Delay in implementation on remaining schemes was because of limitation of OGRA, he added.
