According to the Daily Mirror Football superstar David Beckham visited Tacloba relief camps in the Philippines on Thursday, which was among the worst-hit areas by typhoon Haiyan.

Beckham, who is a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, visited the place to see the aid efforts for himself, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

The father-of-four, Brooklyn , Harper , Cruz, Romeo, received an overwhelming welcome from the typhoon survivors and brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of children.

The Daily Mirror quoted the former England captain as saying, "I was humbled to visit Tacloban and see how people are still so full of spirit despite the devastation they have suffered.”

"Close to 6 million children are affected and many have lost loved ones.

"As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, seeing how children are being given a sense of normality amidst the rubble of their communities has been amazing.”

"I want to show people around the world how their generous donations have had an enormous impact on children and their families and how thankful people here are for their kindness."

According to UNICEF more 6,200 people were killed, while tens of thousands of survivors are still homeless after the Philippines was hit by the typhoon in November 2013.
