imageISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said on Wednesday the opposition did not want mid-term elections and would continue supporting the government for overcoming challenges being faced by the country.

Speaking in the National Assembly, he called for collective efforts to resolve the issues, including terrorism. Dialogue was the first option for restoring peace in the country as decided in the meeting of National Security Council chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday, he added.

He said, "We are satisfied over the reply of government" regarding the magnetic ink. The opposition did not blame the government for not using the magnetic ink in general elections. It was the responsibility of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the caretaker government for conducting elections in a transparent manner, he added.

He said unparliamentary language should not be used in the House. Speaking on a point of order, PTI's Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi demanded strict action against those responsible for not using the magnetic ink in general elections.

He appreciated Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar for personally answering the questions of members in the House.

He clarified that the PTI leadership had never talked of mid-term elections. "We want to move forward with the government."
