ISLAMABAD: The Special Economic Zones (SEZs), being established all across the country, would turn around the industrial growth and promote foreign investments, Board of Investment said.

"The government had devised a comprehensive plan to establish around 16 SEZs in all four province to facilitate the local and foreign investors for increasing exports," a senior official of Board of Investment (BOI) told APP here on Sunday.

The official said that 9 more Prioritized Special Economic Zones (SEZs) would also be established in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Paktunkhwa (KPK), Balochistan and  Northern  Area.

The SEZs that would be completed on priority basis included Rashakai Economic Zone, Dhabeji,Bostan Industrial Zone,Allama Iqbal Industrial City (M3), Faisalabad,ICT Model Industrial Zone, Islamabad, Port Qasim Karachi, Mirpur AJK, Mohmand Marble City,Moqpondass and SEZ Gilgit-Baltistan.

Replying to a question the official said that Rashakai Economic Zone , Dhabeji and Faisalabad Special Eocnomic Zones (SEZs) were ready for operations.

He informed that the government has decided to establish the Information Technology (IT) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in capital city to provide conducive business environment for investors.

He added the government was yet to decide about the land for Information Technology (IT) Zone as there were two places in capital city which had been proposed for establishing the zone.

Replying to question, he said that nine prioritised industrial zones proposed for high tech industry were meant to enhance the export and employment opportunities for the people.

The SEZ Cell had been furnished on the contemporary corporate style and would be equipped with state-of-art facilities,he said.

He said that one-window operation facility has been created by the BoI to facilitate the foreign investors by providing them modern facilities in Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
