Lahore High Court (LHC) Jude Shahid Waheed recused himself on Monday from hearing petitions seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Imran Khan as member of the National Assembly.

During the hearing today, Judge Waheed excused himself from the hearing of the case. Following his recusal, a request was sent LHC chief justice to nominate another judge for the bench, local media reported.

Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party’s Mudassar Chaudhry had challenged the premier’s candidacy, arguing that he had concealed alleged parentage of Tyrian Jade Khan White in his nomination papers for 2018's general elections.

The petitioner contended that the premier is not qualified to hold office under Article 62 and Article 63 of the Constitution. Last year, the Supreme Court had rejected a petition seeking the disqualification of the premier. Before that, the LHC had also dismissed a similar plea seeking PM Khan's disqualification.
