Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal termed on Friday the killing of Pakistani prisoner in Indian jail amidst the frenzy created by Indian government and media, a threat to the life and security of Pakistanis in India as well as Kashmiris.

Foreign Office spokesperson took to the official account of the FO on Twitter and wrote, "Killing of a Pakistani prisoner in Indian jail in the midst of frenzy created by Indian Government and media is a threat to the life and security of Pakistanis in India as well as to Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) and all over India.

A Pakistani prisoner, identified as Shakir Ullah, in India was beaten to death by the inmates in Jaipur Jail on February 20. However, India informed Pakistan's High Commissioner that Shakir Ullah had sustained injuries in a 'scuffle' between inmates, which had caused his death.

The FO lodged a strong protest with Indian regarding the Pakistani inmate's killing. The FO issued a statement on Thursday and said, "It is incomprehensible how a "scuffle" between prisoners in an established government set up was allowed to escalate to the extent that Mr. Shakir Ullah sustained fatal injuries. Security and safety of Pakistani inmates/prisoners in Indian jails is the responsibility of the Government of India which should have taken enhanced measures to prevent this".
