RAWALPINDI: Around 1,899 dengue fever suspects have so far had been brought to the Allied Hospitals of the city, out of which 426 were positive results who were provided the required treatment, Additional Deputy Commissioner Saima Younas Tuesday said.
Chairing the meeting to review anti-dengue arrangements, she directed district health authority to expedite surveillance activities or tracing larva and its eradication besides focusing on hotspots where larva has been detected during current checking.
The additional deputy commissioner directed the officials to make maximum arrangements for the treatment of dengue fever patients; besides all possible preventive measures to meet any eventuality.
On this occasion, health official briefed that during indoor surveillance in Rawal Town, Potohar Town, Chaklala Cantonment and Rawalpindi cantonment areas 50,960 houses were checked during November 20 to 27 where larvae was found at 238 houses While 33,333 spots were checked during outdoor surveillance by 185 teams in the said areas and larvae was found at five points, he added. The district health officer further told that a comprehensive anti-dengue campaign was being run to prevent the dengue virus in the Rawalpindi district.
