TOKYO: Tokyo stocks opened fractionally lower on Monday, extending falls on Wall Street last week as a higher yen weighed on the market with concerns lingering over trade issues.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.04 percent or 9.39 points to 22,297.67 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was down 0.11 percent or 1.79 points at 1,682.52.
