BAJAUR AGENCY: Election commission of Pakistan has launched a drive to verify the newly-issued computerized national identity cards in Bajaur Agency for revision of final electoral list for 2018 elections.

Agency election commissioner Pervez Iqbal told media persons here on Tuesday that the drive had been launched on Monday in which a total 47,920 people of agency who had got their national identity cards from January 2017 till January 15, 2018 will be verified.

He said total 816 enumerators assisted by officials of election commission had been assigned the task to verify the newly registered voters during the campaign across the agency.

He informed that the agency is divided in 826 blocks where the enumerators will go door to door to verify the voters.

According to the official, the drive of voter verification would continue till February 8, adding that display centers would be established after the completion of the drive. The official added that the election commission of Pakistan has proposed to establish 336 polling stations for the both the National Assembly constituency in Bajaur for 2018 general election.

To a question, the official said that strict security arrangements had been adopted by the local administration for the peaceful completion of verification process.
