imageRamadan is a joyful time, a month that is all about mercy and goodness, love and brotherhood, and drawing closer to Allah. It is an opportunity to change your-self through acts of obedience to Allah, a time to celebrate all that you have been blessed with, and to put aside differences from the year past.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) urged all parties to respect the sanctity of the Ramadan month and allow Afghan families worship in peace, according to the Pajhwok Afghan News.

In a statement issued by UNAMA, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan Jan Kubis, said the hallmarks of Ramadan are contemplation, worship and compassion. “On this holy occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to a long-lasting partnership with Afghanistan. And we join you in praying that this ancient and beautiful land soon enjoys the peace and prosperity it so richly deserves,” Gen. John F. Campbell, NATO RS top commander in Afghanistan said in a statement.

“During these days of fasting, prayer and worship, as you reflect and remember your dependence on God, I hope this season of Ramadan also provides an occasion for each of you to strengthen family and community ties and share God's gifts with those in need,” he added.

After a long time, Afghanistan has been in peace during this holy month of Ramadan. Let’s hope for their continual peace and the welfare of all Afghans who have suffered for over three long decades of conflicts.
