imageKARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to the respondents for October 13 in a petition against unjustified increase in fresh milk price in the metropolis.

The bench headed by SHC Chief Justice Faisal Arab on Monday after hearing initial arguments in the petition moved by a social workers Muhammad Imran Shahzad ordered issuance of notices to respondents including Government of Sindh, Commissioner and and all six Deputy Commissioners of Karachi.

The petitioner maintained that the retail price of dairy milk had been increased from Rs. 84 to Rs. 94 per litter without any cogent reason.

The petitioner has prayed the court to direct the respondents to ensure the availability of fresh milk at the fixed rates of Rs. 70 par litter to citizens.

He also prayed to direct the concerned departments to ensure the quality of the fresh milk being sold at the retail shops in the city.
