KARACHI: Sir Paul McCartney closed the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympic Games last night, encouraging the crowd to sing along with him.
Sir Paul McCartney was one of the many legendary faces to take the stage during the opening
ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
The Olympic Opening Ceremonies were organized by filmmaker Danny Boyle.
McCartney opened with "The End," one of the classics from the Beatles’ decorated catalogue.
"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make," McCartney crooned, before
launching into a sing-a-long version of "Hey Jude."
McCartney, 70, managed to illuminate the entire Olympic stadium through his piano, as
athletes from every country and the crowd sang along to every word.
McCartney proved why he’s a legend in the business by winning the hearts of zealous
audience.
He was watched by his daughter Stella McCartney who has played a key part in designing Team
GB's costumes.
Broadcast of the event to a television audience estimated at around one billion.
Universal Music has said that an album of the ceremony soundtrack would be on sale “within
moments” of the ceremony ending.
