 RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has suggested the government that about 3,200MW of electricity could be generated thorough better management of the natural gas.

In a written letter to Ejaz Chaudhary Secretary Ministry of Petroleum, Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman All Pakistan CNG Association has said that if the government gives a serious thought to their suggestion load-shedding could be reduced significantly.

The letter stated that 344 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD) gas is being consumed by 100 to 115 individuals through captive power, so this supply should be stopped immediately as they have alternate fuel options, stating that  344 MMCFD gas can produce up to 2000MW electricity enough to reduce power load-shedding by four hours countrywide.

The letter maintains that businesses of 100-115 persons remain operational seven-day a week, while other sectors are facing up to 12-hour power outages.

Immediately impose ban on gas generators in industrial, commercial, domestic and fuel stations, as it will save 150MMCFD gas from which 700MW electricity could be produced. All domestic gas consumers, who are using gas generators, can be easily identified having billed above Rs1500 per month in summer, should be disconnected, the letter stated.

Gas load shedding of industries in Punjab should be equalised to CNG sector that will save an additional 100 MMCFD of gas sufficient to generate 500MW of electricity.

So that we can produce more than 3200MW electricity by saving and managing gas appropriately with out giving disturbance to public. Increase in gas load shedding for CNG does not save gas, but creates problems for general public.
