Pakistan to increase domestic flight operations to 40-45pc, PCAA

  • The development comes after the government of Pakistan permitted all national and foreign carriers to resume its scheduled/non-scheduled and charter operations

Pakistan has decided to increase the number of domestic flights operation from the previous 20-22 percent to 40-45pc of pre-COVID19 operations, informed the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).

“The enhanced operation shall start from 1st June onwards and shall cover Islamabad,  Karachi,  Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta,” said the authority in a series of tweets.

CAA informed that the decision has been taken due to growing business and public demand for air travel and smart lockdown being observed by the federal and provincial governments. “Also this decision is the outcome of people confidence due to best possible health precautions being adopted both at Airports,” it added.

The development comes after the government of Pakistan permitted all national and foreign carriers to resume its scheduled/non-scheduled and charter operations with effect from one minute to last midnight.

According to NOTAM issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), as per the decision taken by the government of Pakistan, all national and foreign carriers are permitted to start scheduled/non-scheduled and charter operations for outbound passengers only from May 29, 2020, from all international airports except Gwadar and Turbat airports.

Meanwhile, the restrictions on inbound passenger operations into Pakistan shall continue however special permission is required from the government of Pakistan by national & foreign carriers and charter operators for flights with inbound passengers on case to case basis.
