(Karachi) At least 39 people died of coronavirus while 1,352 new cases have been reported across the country during the last 24 hours.

The country's death toll has reached 873 while the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 40,151. Besides, 11,341 patients have recovered from the disease so far.

At least 14,175 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours.

Of the 40,151 cases, 14,584 cases have been reported in Punjab, 15,590 in Sindh, 5,847 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 2,544 in Balochistan, 527 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 947 in Islamabad and 112 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan warned that though the number of cases in Pakistan is lower than many other countries of the world, the country might face increased coronavirus cases from May 15 onwards, bringing the healthcare system under a significant pressure.

He said the country has less Covid-19 cases compared to a large number of countries in the world as the federal government took the timely decision of imposing a lockdown.
