Pakistan Stock Exchange Wednesday witnessed a positive trend on the back of local investors and institutional support.

BRIndex100 gained 12.54 points or 0.36 percent to close at 3,476.04 points. BRIndex100 hit intraday high of 3,487.99 and intraday low of 3,463.50 points. Volumes stood at 189.839 million shares.

BRIndex30 inched up by 17.1 points or 0.09 percent to close at 18,037.37 points with a turnover of 130.737 million shares.

The KSE-100 Index increased by 90.02 points or 0.27 percent to close at 33,693.04 points. Daily trading volumes stood at 219.201 million shares as compared to 224.534 million shares traded Tuesday.

Foreign investors remained net sellers of shares worth $4.1 million. The market capitalization increased by Rs 2 billion to Rs 6.345 trillion. Out of total 346 active scrips, 174 closed in negative, 152 in positive while the value of 20 stocks remained unchanged.

Maple Leaf was the volume leader with 23.239 million shares however lost Rs 0.27 to close at Rs 27.14 followed by TRG Pak that increased by Rs 1.57 to close at Rs 22.59 with 16.308 million shares. Rafhan Maize and Sanofi-Aventis were the top gainers increasing by Rs 90.00 and Rs 28.15 respectively to close at Rs 7000.00 and Rs 763.15 while Unilever Foods and Indus Dyeing were the top losers declining by Rs 589.00 and Rs 46.06 respectively to close at Rs 9011.00 and Rs 570.00.

BR Automobile Assembler Index decreased by 33.08 points or 0.6 percent to close at 5,439.64 points with total turnover of 1.703 million shares.

BR Cement Index gained 18.33 points or 0.43 percent to close at 4,245.06 points with 69.149 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index increased by 57.52 points or 0.86 percent to close at 6,764.13 points with 13.873 million shares. BR Power Generation and Distribution Index fell by 31.17 points or 0.7 percent to close at 4,408.54 points with 11.012 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index inched up by 17.53 points or 0.5 percent to close at 3,505.73 points with 21.781 million shares.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index closed at 1,053.25 points, up 27.73 points or 2.7 percent with 32.501 million shares.

Maaz Mulla at JS Global Capital said that bulls dominated the KSE-100 Index, where the index touched a high of plus200 points, closing at 33,693 level, up 90 points.

Major movers of the day were HBL (up 2.2 percent), PPL (up 2.0 percent), MARI (up 2.4 percent), PSO (up 1.6 percent), MCB (up 1.0 percent), SNGP (down 6.9 percent), HUBC (down 1.2 percent) and UBL (up 0.3 percent) that drove the market in both directions.

From the E&Ps, PPL (up 2.0 percent) and MARI (up 2.4 percent) closed in the green zone as both the shares have been added into small cap of MSCI Index. Moreover, investors interest was witnessed in the banking sector where HBL (up 2.2 percent), UBL (up 0.3 percent), MCB (up 1.0 percent), BAFL (up 0.8 percent) and BOP (up 2.7 percent) closed in the green zone.
