K-P govt to provide cash grant of Rs5,000 to deserving families: CM

• K-P CM says 1.9 million people will get benefit from the package.
• Mehmood Khan says Rs1.5 billion tax relief is being provided to people engaged with the business sector.

(Karachi) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has said that the government will provide Rs5,000 cash grant to deserving families in the province under the Ehsaas programme.

Addressing a press briefing on Friday, he said that 1.9 million people will get benefit from the package. He added that Rs1.5 billion tax relief is being provided to people engaged with the business sector.

He mentioned that the funds will be provided by provincial and federal governments. He said that the economic package has been announced to facilitate the masses, especially the people belonging to poor class.

Earlier, Advisor to CM on Information Ajmal Wazir said the provincial government has decided to close shopping malls and markets till April 10. He said public holidays in the province have been extended to April 5 while the ban on large gatherings will remain in effect until April 30.

He highlighted that 53 new coronavirus cases have been reported across the province in the last 24 hours taking toll in K-P to 176. He stated that the K-P government has approved a Rs500 million grant for the provincial health department.
