  • He said Pakistan does not have the resources nor the capabilities to cope with the novel disease.

Saying that Pakistan does not have that much capabilities to cope with the coronavirus, Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged world community to consider writing-off debt to the country along with other developing nations.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the PM said because of the economic slowdown, his worry is about poverty and hunger.  He continued that in case Pakistan is swamped by the deadly coronavirus, the country's health facilities will not be able to cope. “It’s not just Pakistan, I would imagine the same in India, in the subcontinent, in the African countries.”

He said the world community should consider writing-off debt of countries such as Pakistan ."The world community has to think of some sort of a debt write off for countries like us which are very vulnerable. At least that will help us in coping with it,” he said.

On Tuesday, the total number of cases increased to 189 in Pakistan.
