Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Wednesday said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif might return home, fearing his deportation in the wake of a letter written to the British authorities by the government.

Speaking at a presser here, she said that there was an outpouring of press conferences immediately after a letter was written to the British authorities and "people" had started returning from Australia.

"The moment the letter reached UK, people from Australia have started returning [and] the letter has been so effective that the PML-N leaders have started giving updates to the nation about the health condition of Nawaz Sharif," Awan added.

She was referring to a letter written to the British authorities by the government for deportation of Sharif for allegedly violating his eight-week bail by overstaying in the UK for medical treatment for the past three-and-a-half months.

She said that the taunts the government was getting over Sharif's health, show who was doing politics over the health of Sharif, as his party leadership was trying to cash in on the situation without giving any details about health of PML-N Quaid for Life.

Raising questions about Sharif's health, Awan said that the PML-N had not submitted any document about any heart procedure, an investigation or documents made when he was admitted to the hospital and discharged from it.

"If his [Sharif] condition is as critical as the PML-N claims it is, he should be in the hospital, not taking rest at his Avenfiled Apartment with his family and other relatives," she said.

Awan sarcastically remarked that the scientists all over the world were yet to find out about the ailment the former premier was suffering from, adding the treatment he was getting at home should be shared with all the cardiology hospitals both inside and outside the country.

"The mystery around the health of Sharif needs to be unfolded so that the poor masses can also benefit from such a cure for their heart ailments," she lamented.

Meanwhile, in a series of tweets, Awan urged the Muslim-majority countries to play practical role in helping the Kashmiri people get their legitimate, democratic and legal right as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

She welcomed the OIC Secretary General's Special Envoy Yousef Al Dobeay's statement in support of the oppressed people of Indian occupied Kashmir.

"We welcome the statement supporting the resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the UN Security Council resolutions," she said.

Awan said that expression of solidarity by the OIC would give courage to the oppressed people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Extending unwavering support by the OIC to the stance of Kashmiris and Pakistan on the lingering dispute is appreciable. This is reflective of the Muslim Ummah's compassion for Kashmiris and also admission of Indian oppression.

She said the visit of the OIC delegation to the Line of Control would expose the Indian crimes before the world. If India was not involved in these crimes, it would have allowed the world community including the OIC to visit occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
