Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Thursday that the government is monitoring the individuals who recently arrived from Iran and may have been exposed to the deadly coronavirus.

On Wednesday, Pakistan confirmed two cases of the coronavirus which includes a 22-year-old male patient in Karachi who had travelled from Iran. The second case was confirmed at PIMS in Islamabad.

During a press conference today, the CM said that the government has decided to form a task force on coronavirus. He added that around 1,500 people have been identified who have traveled to Sindh from Iran in the past few days.

He said those individuals have been asked to stay home for 15 days and if they develop symptoms within those days, then the government will test them.

The CM further said that if anyone is found to have the developed the disease, then they will be isolated so that they do not come in contact with other people. He added that a hosipital is being designated for this purpose.

Noting that flights were still coming from Iran, the CM urged the federal government to suspend the operations.
