NAIROBI: The Kenyan shilling weakened on Monday due to increased dollar demand from merchandise importers and some multinational  companies, traders said.

At 0742 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at 100.60/80 per dollar, compared with 100.35/55 at Friday's close.

Kenya's financial markets will be closed on Tuesday for a public holiday.
