Prices of the essential kitchen items witnessed an increasing trend during this week as compared to previous week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.

The survey observed further increase in the price of wheat flour, egg, vegetables, fruits and other items. The egg price increased from Rs 125 per dozen to Rs 130 per dozen which in retail market was being sold at Rs 140 per dozen, wheat flour price jumped up from Rs 790 per 15kg bag to Rs 800 per bag and the prices of an entire range of vegetables have witnessed an increase.

However during the week under review, the chicken price went down from Rs 6,000 per 40 kg to Rs 5,700 per 40 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 170 per kg and chicken meat was available at Rs 275 per kg against Rs 300 per kg.

During the week under review, no changes were witnessed in the prices of powdered chilli which in retail market was being sold at Rs 480 per kg and powdered turmeric at Rs 350 per kg. Fine quality Mash pulse was available at Rs 230 per kg, Moong pulse at Rs 200 per kg and fine quality Lobia was available at Rs 200 per kg. Fine quality Basmati rice was available at Rs 175 per kg, normal Basmati at Rs 100 per kg and Irri-6 rice at Rs 90 per kg. Sugar price also remained stable at Rs 3,400 per 50 kg bag which in retail market was being sold at Rs 72 per kg.

The survey noted an increasing trend in vegetable prices as potatoes prices went up from Rs 275 per 5 kg to Rs 300 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 65 per kg, tomatoes price reduced from Rs 550 per 5 kg to Rs 450 per 5 kg in wholesales market which in retail market were being sold at Rs 100-110 per kg against Rs 130 per kg, and onion price remained stable at Rs 400 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 90-95 per kg.

Garlic price went up from Rs 850 per 5 kg to Rs 900 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 270 per kg against Rs 250 per kg and ginger price went up from Rs 900 per 5 kg to Rs 1,000 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 320 per kg against Rs 280 per kg. Capsicum price went up from Rs 470 per 5 kg to Rs 500 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 110 per kg.
