It was simply unbelievable. Whatever happened at Lahore's cardiac hospital on Wednesday is an incident that should make us all hang our heads in shame. Not only did the protesting lawyers attack hospital, they also thrashed doctors, nurses and others, including a provincial information minister. How much would we regress?
Television channels showed live footage of the scuffle from the scene where some of the lawyers were also seen brandishing pistols. "This was kind of a highhandedness which none of civilized societies can tolerate," provincial law minister Raja Basharat has been quoted by media as saying.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has ordered an inquiry into the incident, must ensure that action against all those involved in the attack is taken without any loss of time.
