Locusts that flew in a swarm into Sindh's agriculture plain and outskirts of the metropolis ravaged crops, Sindh Agriculture Minister, Muhammad Ismail Raho told the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday.

The Tuesday's sitting of the legislature are exclusively reserved for private members legislations that drew a very thin attendance mainly because of the prolonged session which is said to have withered away the legislators' interest.

Speaker Aga Siraj Khan Durrani, who was annoyed by the lack of interest by the lawmakers warned to adjourn the Tuesdays' secession if thin attendance continue to persist in coming weeks.

Raho told the lawmakers that the recent attacks of locusts on the crops widely ravaged the agriculture fields, saying that the Sindh Agriculture Department had sprayed insecticides which failed to prove any improvements to get rid of the insects. He said that the insects cannot be completely wiped off either. "Their [locusts] cannot be eliminated completely," he added. Within a couple of days, the sugarcane support price will be fixed, the minister replied, saying that the opposition criticized the PPP rule though "the support price was just Rs 63 for sugarcane before our government". Appreciating his party's government, he said, "It is the PPP which increased the price to Rs 184 per mound".

Sindh Social Welfare Minister, Shehla Raza sought support for her department's drive against sexual harassments in the province, as she tabled a resolution in this regard in the house. She said that the nation should stand by the women facing sexual harassments in occupied Kashmir. The house adopted the resolution unanimously.

Sindh Information Minister, Saeed Ghani said the government has secured some information regarding the kidnapped girl-Dua Mangi, which is expected to lead the police to the criminals, saying that he had also talked to the victim girl's father also. He called the kidnapping incident 'serious', saying that the provincial government is ready to take support from the federal government if needed. About the murder of Gul Sama, he said, the police found no evidence that she had been stoned to death. He said that Gul Sama's body will be exhumed for probe.
