The special committee formed on Prime Minister Imran Khan's directives on Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) issue has decided to create a Kashmir desk at Pakistan's Foreign Office and also in Pakistani embassies around the world to carry out effective communication on the matter.

The special committee on Kashmir met for the first time on Saturday. The committee meeting was chaired by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other members included Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor, Inter Services Intelligence head Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, Law Minister Farogh Nasim, Special Adviser to PM on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan, parliamentary committee on Kashmir chairperson Fakhar Imam and Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan.

Addressing a joint presser after the meeting, the FM said that the committee had discussed the future course of action as this was a long fight and was a 'process and not an event'. Qureshi said an action plan will be prepared which will be presented to the premier for approval.

He said the committee had reached a consensus that the Narendra Modi government has buried Jawaharlal Nehru’s India. "The face of India that the world is seeing today is not Nehru’s India. It is Narendara Modi’s India,” the FM said.

FM Qureshi announced that a Kashmir desk will be created at Pakistan's Foreign Office. He continued that a Kashmir desk would also be established in all Pakistani embassies around the world. He further shared that these desks will be established to carry out effective communication on the matter.

The minister continued that Pakistan achieved a milestone when United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held a meeting to discuss Indian occupied Kashmir which came as a shock to India. He added that both the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and UNSC have both responded positively to Pakistan's call for discussing IoK issue.

Answering a question, the DG ISPR said that that the IoK issue is linked with Pakistan's security. He reiterated that Pakistan's armed forces are fully prepared to respond to any Indian aggression. “The armed forces are ready for any action, for any perpetual threat. Whatever is required to be done will be done,” the DG ISPR added.
