Emerging speedster Ilyas aims to play Test cricket for Pakistan

Emerging fast bowler Mohammad Ilyas has been a rising circuit in Pakistan's domestic cricket and now intends to represent Pakistan in Test cricket in the coming years.

“Obviously like all other players I too wish to play for Pakistan and fortunately the way I am performing and getting the rhythm, I am hopeful to play Test cricket for Pakistan in two, three years,” said Ilyas, quoted PCB.

The 20 years old Peshawar born was part of the Multan Sultans franchise in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL), unfortunately was not able to go pass the round robin stage however, Ilyas was impressive in the tournament picking up 10 wickets in eight PSL appearances.

At the moment Ilyas is part of the Sindh squad in the ongoing 50-overs Pakistan National Cup, talking about his experience in the tournament Ilyas said that playing alongside senior players such as Junaid Khan is quite helpful in one’s game development.

“You learn a lot of things while playing alongside senior players, we learn how to be economical and take wickets… my strength is mostly delivering in swingers and I stick to bowl stump to stump, whereas, my weakness is in bowling an out swinger on which I am working on,” said Ilyas.
