‘Let’s forget our differences’: Opposition calls for joint session over LoC violation

The opposition in the National Assembly has called for a joint session on Tuesday following Indian Air Force's breach of the Line of Control (LoC) earlier today.

Speaking on the floor of the Parliament, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah requested that a joint session should be held. Saying that India's every attempt will be defended by Pakistan, he contended that the House should sit together and discuss this issue.

The PPP leader said that if needed, the opposition parties will be at the borders with the country's armed forces.

During his turn to speak, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif said that after the breach, the opposition and the government should forget their differences and give support to Pakistan's armed forces. He said that both parties should unite and give the message to India that 'we are united'. "It is not the time for political point-scoring," he added.

The PML-N leader also requested that a joint session should be held. Asif further said that Pakistan should not attend the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting that will be held today. He added that in the OIC meeting, Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs of India was also invited.

The OIC Contact Group on Kashmir will be held in Jeddah on Tuesday. The meeting has been held on Pakistan's request.
