Instagram for web is a pared-down version of Instagram for phone, however, one of the things it lacks is the feature of Direct Messages. Now, the firm finally might integrate that too as it has been testing the feature for web version.

According to a popular app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, the social media network Instagram is currently testing its direct message feature to send and receive messages for the web on mobile and on the desktop.

The feature spotted by Wong showed a direct message icon located at the menu bar on the web that would allow users to view, send and receive new DMs, detailed Engadget.

Experience for Instagram for desktop is minimal and a reduced version of the mobile app that has more than just News Feed. The web version still does not include the option of directly uploading photos/videos or uploading stories.

As per The Verge, Instagram has previously said that it has ‘no plans to let users upload photos or stories from the desktop’. However, introducing direct messages to the web would mark as a great step ahead.
