Pakistani soap manufacturers have asked Malaysian investors to invest in Pakistan soap industry for promotion of bilateral trade. While addressing the annual dinner of Pakistan Soap Manufacturers Association (PSMA), chairman of the Association Usman Ahmed said Malaysia is a country where from major soap making materials are imported and there is need to further enhance the bilateral trade among two countries.
Highlighting the importance of soap industry, he presented manufacturing statistics of washing soap, toilet soap, detergent powder, value additions and revenue figures which government gets from the soap industry. He also talked about the trade agreements between Pakistan and Malaysia as well as the importance of trade volume under the FTA and PTA, and said both countries are business partners but the balance of trade is in favour of Malaysia, therefore, Malaysia should give benefits at maximum level to Pakistani soap industry and special preference should be given to Pakistani importers for obtaining visa.
On the occasion, Malaysian Consulate General Khair-ul-Nazran Abd Rahman thanked the Association members and said Malaysia has a very good relationship with all the traders of Pakistan and especially the importers of ghee, oil and soap industry. He assured that efforts will be made to increase the bilateral trade. "We will endeavour to supply all Palm by-products at very reasonable prices so that it is accessible to the general consumers", he added.
He vowed that there would be fruitful talks between the ministers of the two countries so that the businessmen and people of both Islamic countries would be benefited. Malaysian CG reiterated that genuine problems of soap industry would be addressed and resolved in a good manner.
All the obstacles obstructed will soon be removed so that the soap industry can get on the path of development. There is a team here in my office in Karachi, working for the industrial development and business community," he added. Guest of Honour Rasheed Jan Mohammad appreciated the services of the chairman of soap association and requested the Malaysian CG to use their efforts to promote the soap industry.
