Sindh govt requests SC to shift fake accounts case to Karachi

The Sindh government filed on Friday an application in the Supreme Court (SC) requesting that the fake accounts case be shifted to Karachi.

The petition says that due to the case being shifted to Islamabad it was creating administrative problems and requested the top court to shift the case back to Karachi, local media reported. The petition further said that once the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference is complete, it may be submitted in Karachi.

Meanwhile, the NAB also submitted its report to the SC regarding its investigation in the fake accounts case. In its report, the bureau informed the court that it has formed another four Joint Investigation Teams, which are being headed by NAB Rawalpindi Director General Irfan Mangi. The report says that the investigation into the fake accounts case will be closely monitored by NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal himself.

The bureau has been investigating the fake accounts case involving billions of dollars being laundered. Several Pakistan Peoples Party leadership and others are being investigated into the case.
