Appreciating the director general of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) for declaring that Pakistan has no intention to recognise Israel, Emir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman, however has said the spokesman for Armed Forces should have avoided commenting on the state of economy as it is not his job. Addressing a press conference after chairing central executive committee (CEC) meeting of his party here on Thursday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that his party is committed to the planned Islamabad 'lockdown' and all the opposition parties are onboard on the subject. He said the religious elements, traders, youth, media persons, judges, lawyers and the public at large are all perturbed over the policies of the present government.
Rehman said that the next CEC meeting of his party will be held on September 18 wherein his party will announce the schedule of the 'long march'. He said the government was forced to withdraw the ordinance regarding Rs 208.5 billion waiver given to influential industrialists, adding no serious action was taken against those who benefited from the move.
Rehman said that on which ground the DG ISPR stated that the economy is improving, adding that his only responsibility is to talk about defense related issues and his party welcomes armed forces' every step to strengthen defence. He maintained that the government's situation is like a patient who is in an intensive care unit of a medical facility. Responding to a question, he said that his party is in continuous consultation with other political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), adding that political workers of all the parties will join Islamabad 'lockdown' march in October.
He said that during the CEC meeting, he received a phone call from Captain Muhammad Safdar (retd) who on behalf of Nawaz Sharif assured full support of the PML-N to the JUI-F planned protest. He said that the Prime Minister, national and provincial assemblies and entire government setup are 'fake' and had been installed by stealing votes. The JUI-F and other parties have finalized their plan to send this fake government packing and "if the authorities are thinking by arresting opposition leaders and workers they can stop it, we warn them that use of state machinery against peaceful protest couldn't stop our plans."
Rehman said that his party has appointed former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Akram Khan Durrani as the coordinator to contact with all political parties to urge them to take part in upcoming Islamabad long march; Jalaludin Advocate will contact with diplomats; Aslam Ghouri with media; Kamran Murtaza will coordinate with civil society; and Khawaja Mudasar Sulkmani will contact with religious scholars. He said the government functionaries before issuing statements must analyse the situation with reference to 'historic' facts, saying during 1971 Pakistan-India war supreme commander of the Pakistan armed forces, was claiming that the Pakistan armed forces will counter Indian invaders in all the corners of the then East Pakistan but after just one day General AK Niazi surrendered. He added that General AK Niazi in his statement "had made it clear" that the armed forces were taking this step on the orders of 'supreme leadership'.
